Des Moines, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Revenue has extended the filing and payment deadline to June 1, 2021 for 2020 individual income tax returns and first quarter estimated income tax payments for individuals from the April 30, 2021 statutory deadline.
The previously submitted proposed rules on Sales and Use Tax on Services (Barbering/Cosmetology/Esthetics), Sales Involving Government Entities and Instrumentalities, and Powers of Attorney; Tax Information Disclosure Designation, have been adopted and filed, effective April 28, 2021. The Department has submitted new proposed rules to the Iowa Legislature, Broadband Infrastructure Grant Exemption and Bundled Transactions, available for public comment through March 30, 2021. The previously submitted proposed rule, Withholding—Electronic Filing Requirements, Deadline for Furnishing Statements, has been adopted and filed, effective April 14, 2021. With tax filing season upon us, the Iowa Department of Revenue is reminding Iowans of the many resources available that can assist taxpayers with filing their tax return. The Department will begin processing returns at the same time as the IRS on February 12. This is because Iowa taxpayers are required to provide their federal return with their Iowa return. Iowa income tax returns are due on April 30.
