IDR Announces 2022 Interest Rates, Deductions, Income Tax Brackets

Des Moines, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Revenue has finalized individual income tax brackets and individual income tax standard deduction amounts for the 2022 tax year (applicable for taxes due in 2023) and the 2022 interest rate, which the agency charges for overdue payments.
The Department previously submitted two proposed rules to the Iowa Legislature (Appeals, Taxpayer Presentation, and Other Administrative Procedures; Protests - Motions to Redact Certain Information) which have been adopted and filed, effective November 10, 2021. See individual notices for details.
The Iowa Department of Revenue and other state agencies are modernizing technology and processes to better serve Iowa taxpayers. The end result of this four-year effort will provide taxpayers, businesses, and tax professionals with a new and secure portal, GovConnectIowa.

The Department has submitted new proposed rules to the Iowa Legislature (Order of Deduction of Tax Credits; Nonresident and Part-Year Resident Income Tax Credit; Appeals of Director’s Rejection of Assessor Appointment or Reappointment; Out-of-State Tax Credit; Assessors and Deputy Assessors—Assessment of Own Property) available for public comment through September 28, 2021. The previously submitted proposed rule (Marketable Food Products for Human Consumption) has been adopted and filed, effective October 13, 2021. See individual notices for details.
