Iowa Issues Order Related to Electronic Filing Requirement

Friday - 02/17/2023

On February 17, 2023, the Director of the Iowa Department of Revenue, Kraig Paulsen, issued Order 2023-01. The Department has provided guidance to explain this tax change:

  • Electronic Filing Requirements for Business, Trusts, and Estates
For tax years ending on or after December 31, 2022, certain business entities are subject to a requirement to electronically file their Iowa income, franchise, or composite tax return. Order 2023-01 offers limited relief from the requirement that certain business entities file their returns in an electronic format. The order provides electronic filing relief for “qualified filers”, which are taxpayers who meet all of the criteria specified in the order.
